Tamilnadu is a land of rich history and tradition. It
is the land where traditions and culture combine to live in harmony.
Tamilnadu abounds in ancient monuments and temples, which reflect the
religious, artistic and cultural accomplishment of the state. Karnataka
and Andhra Pradesh surround Tamil Nadu in the north while Kerala lies on
the west. The Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean form the eastern and
southern boundaries respectively. Point Calimere and Mudumalai wildlife
sanctuaries form the eastern and western tips of the state while Cape
Comorin or Kanyakumari forms the southernmost tip of Tamilnadu.
The most important aspect of the Tamil culture is the architectural
heritage of the state. Tamil Nadu is also called the cradle of south
Indian temple architecture and is a living museum of architectural
styles that originated in the 7th century and culminated in the huge
temple complexes studded with towering gateways called "Gopurams".
The finest example of Sikhara and Gopuram architecture is the
Brihadeshwara temple at Thanjavur. Numerous temples and religious places
make Tamilnadu home to some important pilgrim centers. Some of the
pilgrim centers of Tamilnadu are Mahabalipuram, Kanchipuram,
Chidambaram, Kumbakonam, Rameswaram, Palani, Srirangam, Tiruttani and
Kanyakumari.
Tamil Nadu has a long coastline and boasts of many exotic and beautiful
beaches. The golden sands of these beaches are dotted with coconut palm
and casuarinas groves. Some of the noted beaches in Tamilnadu are the
Marina beach, Covelong beach, Mahabalipuram beach and Rameshwaram beach.
All these factors make Tamilnadu the ultimate travel destination. The
state has everything to offer from amazing temple architecture, lush
green hills, wildlife and beaches to the sounds of classical music. Come
